A Quarantine Easter Tablescape

easter tablescape

Am I really typing these words: a quarantine Easter tablescape?? Yes, I am because we are all in quarantine and therefore, can’t have our traditional Tang Easter Egg Hunt and Feast. We look forward to this highlight event all year that sees around 50 people at our home. Obviously, it would not be responsible to have it this year with an ugly and dangerous flu virus going around while throwing a bunch of kids together. So, we Tangs will do what we do best by making lemonade out of lemons. Easter is still Easter after all, so we are still celebrating; it’s just a mini-Easter this year. The large Easter tablescape is now a mini-tablescape. We will feast around a tiny, round table with our fur babies waiting for scraps. Our condensed table is still cheerful, bright, and festive, and I am sharing it with you today.

How I created our quarantine Easter Tablescape

Originally, I fell back on Pantone for color inspiration. Their Spring colors on trend for 2020 home decor are gorgeous! There is a lot of Pantone’s pink coral in the stores right now which is perfect color for its beautiful depth and broad appeal. Coral is a happy and energizing color that carries through Spring and Summer, and who couldn’t use happy and energizing right now? Usually, I keep the coral for the summer, but this year I decided that our Easter table will be done in coral, pink coral, and eucalyptus greens. It is exciting to watch it come together. The brightness of it is a departure from pastels (which I also love) and a good change of style.

The star of the show is the coral color with both a light and dark version of the color. Darker pink coral peonies are the main feature of this look which tied in with my eucalyptus dishes. And a light pink coral runner runs down the center of the table. Shopping for Easter at Pier 1, I went back and forth between a mint green runner and the pink coral. At the last minute I put back the mint green one and got the pink coral runner instead. That was a good decision. The light coral runner ended up contrasting nicely with our eucalyptus dishes as well as the bright coral peonies I picked up at a craft store. The peonies I turned these into napkin ring holders. Additionally, the tulip border napkins went perfectly with all of this which I also got at a great sale at Pier 1.

There is also a sweet brown bunny adorned in similar colors sitting in the very small center of our table. Additionally, I put some sparkly, decorative eggs around the bunny. There wasn’t much room to work with, so I kept things simpler to avoid overkill. The woven place mats I was originally going to use were left out due to crowding. However, antique chargers were perfect as is. Simple and sweet is the motto this year!

And if by some miracle the flu vanishes, and things will go back to normal before Easter I will be ready turn this quarantine Easter tablescape back into a full-sized tablescape and invite lots of people over! Hang in there everyone!
