A Woodland Christmas Tree
A Woodland Christmas Tree. December 5, 2024.
This year has been the most fun ever for Christmas decorating! It has been an absolute pleasure to continue to journey outside the traditional Christmas decor and get really artistic with it. As florals are clearly my favorite and flow well with the decor in the house I have stayed with that theme. And while I have always enjoyed the traditional Christmas colors and decor breaking out of that and creating Christmas decor that reflects my own style has been beneficial in several ways:
- More mileage out of decor. Carefully selected decor can take you the whole year long with new looks. My investment over the last few years in faux florals has gotten a lot of mileage in every season and works wonderfully at Christmas too when paired with the right things. My key investments are florals, ribbons, mosses, berry picks, lovely vases and bowls, good quality linens, and baroque or vintage candlesticks. You will see all these things on repeat each season at Hidden Bluff in some new way.
- Sticking to one color palette really is better. It has been easier and cheaper to stay within the same color palette as the house. No interruptions or second arsenal for decor. Incorporating things is a snap.
- This method showcases your true style and allows it to develop on a consistent basis without interruption. It is amazing how much easier it is to create good looks that reflect your artistic gifts when you go this route.
A Woodland Christmas Tree
This year I have done several Christmas trees including this floral woodland themed tree which I adore. Woodland decor always makes me feel as if I am inside a fairytale or sweet children’s story. I can’t imagine a better season than Christmas for woodland decor and highlight the magical ambiance of nature that is so near to our hearts.
To create this look I used a base of lots of faux hydrangeas, roses and dried-look roses all throughout the tree.
Berry picks were added next including these faux boysenberry picks.
And these sweet mushroom ornaments I made were perfect for this tree! Tutorial to make those here.
Spanish moss tucked throughout the tree along with pinecones and faux ivy stems to make it woodsy.
Scattered velvet and silk bows in two different shades of green add cottage charm.
It may be my favorite tree yet….
Have a beautiful day!
