Blue and White Cottage Table Decor, Oct. 4, 2022.

Every time I passed the bright blue hydrangea bush at SomeTyme Place I stared at it. The hydrangeas were so blue! Clusters of blazing cobalt covered the bush until the day came that I clipped them. For a couple of weeks now they have been sitting in a bucket drying. The blue ones seem to take longer to dry. And some didn’t dry so well; however, most of them turned out. And now I won’t have to buy dried blue hydrangeas this year for decor which feels very satisfying.

Naturally, the dining room table was a good place to use them as it sits next to my blue-accented kitchen. For cottage appeal I used a blue buffalo check tablecloth I found on Amazon over the summer. It was adorable, and I almost bought it in green too. I still may buy it in green….

Baskets bring nature into decor- especially this willow basket. It looks like something in a fairy tale book or regency movie. I found a set of three of them at Antique Farmhouse (my favorite store). I like to take one out to pick veggies or flowers and feel like Anne of Green Gables. And the dried blue hydrangeas were perfect in the basket! It was a charming and quaint display that reflects the simple living so many of us are striving for these days.

Ribbons are something I collect. It is such a simple thing to add a bow to a basket or wreath for a bit of charm. Silks, taffetas, and velvets are my favorites as they are timeless and simple. I try to find high-quality, milliner grade ribbons. Hand-dyed blue silk ribbon from a local store was used to make a large bow on the basket for this blue and white cottage table.

And of course, scattered mini white pumpkins for the Autumn part! Baby pumpkins are the cutest. Maybe I will try to grow them some year.

Try to think simply this year on decor. Try to invest in classic items for decor that hold their appeal. Vintage stores are a great place to find some of these things and they often look more interesting. Remember, keep it simple!
