When it comes to homemade gifts food items are always a fun and welcome present at the holidays; however, home décor items are a fun idea as well. A homemade décor item is an extra special way to show someone you care. Homemade does not have to take a long time either. In fact, today’s post is an incredibly easy diy holiday pillows tutorial for the person you are gifting this with.

Holiday pillows are always a fun touch to any home and today’s post is how to dress up a simple ready-made pillow. There are so many ways to make these special and unique. They can be personalized for the person you want to bless this season. For today’s pillows I chose the season’s trending neutral color and dressed them up. Keep in mind that much of the charm of handmade is its imperfections, so don’t sweat this too much.

Easy DIY Holiday Pillows

These first pillow takes about 1 minute to make with a store-bought pillow and a nice ribbon. A pillow tied with a bow like a present is both adorable and festive for the Christmas season. The bow I chose has a little pop of color with aqua complimenting the beige. Aqua is such a calming color and is one of my favorites in décor. The end result here is adorable!

Supplies needed:

Store-bought pillow

Wide, good quality ribbon

Take ribbon and tie around pillow as desired. Done. Told you it was simple!

The second pillow is a simple painted stencil design. Using some fabric paint and a stencil, I embellished these flourishes which look a bit like snowflakes. White and glitter fabric paints were used to add some holiday sparkle. Of course, this one took a little longer than tying a bow, but it still did not take very long.

Supplies Needed

Store-bought pillow

Large stencil

Fabric paint

Paint brush or sponge

Place the stencil on the pillow where you want the design and hold in place. Brush paint over the stencil. Do not lift stencil until you are done, or paint may smear. When paint has been applied carefully lift stencil. Let pillow dry.

Enjoy your day! Best, Anna
