Frosé Mocktail
There was a lot of wine drinking during the quarantine by the population at large. No doubt this was due to a lot of fear and anxiety in being cooped up at home and dealing with uncertainty. And while I enjoy a glass of wine myself alcohol is not the appropriate medium for coping with life. Thankfully, that season for the nation has ended. Also thankfully, a lot of people are now cutting back on alcohol which is good for health and well-being. However, people still do enjoy special drinks, so now mocktails are now seeing a surge in popularity. This recipe post here has seen lots of traffic on Pinterest recently with the uptick in mocktail searches. And the popularity of mocktails inspired today’s recipe creation: Frosé Mocktail. This is a take on the popular Frosé drink made with Rosé wine and frozen strawberries (also delicious).
There are new options in non-alcoholic sparkling drinks that are reminiscent of Rosé. For this recipe I tested with two popular options: Welches Rosé and Martinelli’s Blush. Both have different bases. The Welch’s is grape-based and the Martinelli’s is apple-based, so of course the results were different. I tested this recipe with both and preferred the Martinelli’s Blush. It’s apple and raspberry flavors paired better with the frozen strawberries. However, the frozen strawberries alone didn’t give the drink much body, so ice cubes were added which did the trick! It produced a delicious icy and fun mocktail drink to serve for a special occasion or just because- no alcohol! I hope you enjoy this! Best, Annie
