Today’s post is offering some harvest tablescape ideas from my home. To digress a bit, I would best describe my personality as being a wide-ranging mix that doesn’t fit neatly into any particular category. This is my parents’ fault- lol! My lovely, right-brained mother is a think-out-of-the-box artist. She paints gorgeous pieces; she also crafts unique home pieces and is an excellent decorator. My dad was a highly intelligent student in his youth who is now a plumber of many years. However, he continued his hobby scholarism and currently boasts a bigger theology library than many seminarians. So, growing up I had exposure to both worlds and did what many kids do- I adapted.

So, between my mom and dad they raised a sort-of nerdy artist. I love creating beauty, but I also love literature, history, science, logic, etc. But then who is to say one can’t love beauty and knowledge? It is completely normal for me to be reading a book on the evolution of language while working on glitzy Christmas ornaments. If I confuse people, it’s their problem. It took me years, but I am finally comfortable in my own skin with my varying natures and interests.

With that said, lately I have been working on completing an online technical course as well as a harvest tablescape. Talk about contrasts! But I am not here to write about the tech stuff today. For today I wanted to offer some harvest tablescape ideas from my home using natural elements with a bit of glam.

When it comes to holiday accessories, I typically like to add a little bit to my stash every year to keep things current. This year, however, I splurged for some Thanksgiving dishes as well as new placemats and chargers. My Thanksgiving table needed some help as that is usually my weakest when it comes to holiday tables. So, I decided to start fresh. Pier 1 is my go-to for much home decor which is where is found these beautiful dishes on sale called “Hushed Harvest”. They have watercolor eucalyptus leaves on the edges for an naturally elegant look. When I saw them, I knew they would match our home perfectly with their cooler green color and the moody lighting of the season.

On the plates I have put the napkins in holders. Last year I bought some blue pumpkin napkin ring holders which I lightly sprayed with champagne spray paint on top. This gives them a slightly metallic look which worked well with the new cooler green dinner accessories. This year I bought some additional eucalyptus leaf napkin ring holders. The style and color work well with the pumpkin ones, so I use them alternately on the plates. This gives the look some variety and interest.

When it came to the chargers I selected carefully because I wanted them to be useful for other dishes as well. I ended up selecting an antiqued, scalloped charger that are very versatile. Not only will they work well with the Hushed Harvest dishes, but the Christmas dishes I inherited from my late aunt as well. Additionally, they also pair excellently with my Royal Albert wedding china. The chargers themselves have a bit of height as they don’t sit flat on the table. This raises the plates a tiny bit and gives the tablescape some depth. I like using different heights when it comes to decor instead of having everything “flat”. Contrasting heights emphasizes things and adds character.

The lovely woven placemats have a slight champagne metallic sheen to them which I loved! They are also very versatile since they are neutral. Additionally, they add both a natural and glam look to the table which was perfect.

And lastly for harvest tablescape ideas, is the center of the table. The center of the table was easy enough. Of course, with eucalyptus dishes and napkin rings I had to buy faux eucalyptus stems. These I clipped into smaller pieces and arranged in the center on the table. Candles and white pumpkins were place amongst these. Candles are my very favorite way to add elegance to decor. They are both elegant and cozy.

The best tables are often the simplest ones. Putting together a gorgeous holiday table isn’t rocket science. I have found that people really like the special touches and it makes them very special which is why I love doing it. It makes me happy to bless other people. And I hope this month is blessed for you and full of gratitude!
