July Book Picks 2022

Between getting ready for our July 4th BBQ and turning over our Airbnb this week is jammed full! We love July 4th at Hidden Bluff and are excited to host another event. We are putting out a gourmet hamburger bar with things like pickled red onions, gorgonzola, aioli, sautéed mushrooms, and more. Barbecue classics such a calico beans and potato salad will be put out on the table all while enjoying the company of good friends. In getting ready for our party there hasn’t been much time for reading, but I am squeezing in a bit each night. This is the month I am finally going to tackle the Land Girls series by Roland Moore. In fact, all three books are my July Book Picks 2022.

This popular series is also the basis for a BBC show that I also have yet to watch. BBC does such a wonderful job with their movies and series that undoubtedly, I will enjoy it when I do watch it. If you are unfamiliar with the term land girls, it refers to the women who took up the traditional roles of men in farming while WW 2 was going on. This was a turning point for women in history as they stepped out of the domestic roles into the workforce. It makes for an interesting historical setting backdrop of a novel as well.

There are three books in this series: The Homecoming, The Promise, and Christmas on the Home Front. My plan is to read them all in July. If you’ve read these books, I would love to hear your thoughts on them. Comment down below!
