Patriotic Iced Tea

Patriotic iced tea

As an avid coffee and tea drinker I am always interested in trying new products, and recently a fun-looking iced tea package on the Harney and Sons website caught my eye. I’ve enjoyed Harney and Sons teas before as well as their iced tea, but they had a sampler that was new to me (not to mention an excellent deal!). The sampler arrived with four different flavors; however, it was the indigo punch iced tea that stood out. In fact, the indigo punch iced tea inspired today’s patriotic iced tea.

You’ve probably seen the wildly popular butterfly pea flowers and the beautiful blue/indigo color they infuse into drinks and food. Butterfly pea flowers themselves have a chamomile taste to them, and this fruity herb tea blend contains butterfly pea flowers, hibiscus, rosehip, and other fruity flavors. It struck me as an excellent candidate for a patriotic iced tea that all might enjoy. Keep reading for recipe.

Patriotic Iced Tea

1 2 quart-sized iced tea bag of Harney and Sons Indigo Punch Iced Tea (I got mine here)

Blueberries (I used a pint)

Quartered strawberries (I used a scant pint)

Red Delicious Apple chopped (I used one)

Simple syrup or stevia drops

Make iced tea according to instructions. Then using a big pitcher add iced tea and sweeten to taste with simple syrup or sweetener of choice. Next, add the wash and prepared fruit. My fruit tended to layer itself which worked out nicely. The blueberries were first and sunk. The strawberries next, and the apple which floated at the top. A very red, white, and blue themed drink.

Have a beautiful day!
