Using Lemons in Table Decor
Lemons are trending in home decor this year although they really never are out of style. But this year we are seeing an extra burst of lemon themed items for decorating around the home. Yellow is a bit trickier in my own home decor because of the cooler color palette here with cooler greens, blushes, and crimsons. However, I do love the cheeriness of the lemon and wanted to find a way to incorporate some of this sunshine fruit in it. I finally, settled on table decor since lemon and cooking go so well together. Lemons also remind me of Italy and Italian food which we love. And lastly, as much as I like lemons, I really did not want lemon decor in other parts of the house. So, in today’s post I show how I ended up using lemons in table decor.
using lemons in table decor: get the look
The look began with a white tablecloth and a natural woven runner down the middle. This woven runner is a great piece to have in general because it tones down decor with its natural vibe. In any season it goes with so many things and gives a wonderful natural or rustic touch! I highly recommend having a similar piece in your decor stash.
In this look are basic, white dishes that are both simple and elegant. I wanted the lemons to pop in this tablescape, so white neutral dishes help the bright colors stand out and give the sunny lemon its due attention. Gold-distressed, white charger plates sit underneath the dishes. These chargers are a favorite of mine because they are so versatile- another great addition to the decor stash. They set off many dishes well and add an elegant touch to the table.
Speaking of colors, as mentioned earlier, yellow was going to be a challenge in our cooler colored decor. It was easiest to ignore color theory on this one. So, the cool-toned sage green napkins were pulled out and treated as a neutral in this scheme to pair with the sunny yellow. Also included were some bright pink accents.
On top of the plates I set trifolded, sage green napkins. And on top of the napkins I set a sprig of faux seeded eucalyptus and a lemon. The original plan was to tie up the napkins with twine; however, the simple look of the folded napkin appealed to me more.
In the clearance display at the grocery store I spotted these pretty yellow flowers and I scooped some up for the center piece. Back at home I trimmed them down and arranged them in a rustic wooden box. Some clipped leaves from the yard added a bit more green.
Ice cream dishes became candle holders for these sweet lemon slice candles I found. Additionally, single faux lemons were laid in different spots. I am really loving this lemon table decor!
Of course, the water needed lemon wedges!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and find inspiration for your own home decor. Thanks for stopping by and have a sunshine-y day!
