A Tranquil Thanksgiving Table

The day is winding down, and I am sipping a homemade London Fog Latte while mentally dreaming of the days ahead. This is such a beautiful time of year! Despite the challenges I still look forward to all to come, and my wish is that everyone has the peace of God in their hearts this season. So, today I pulled out the Thanksgiving dishes and linens and created a newish look with them. I adore these watercolor eucalyptus dishes and love using them at Thanksgiving. My husband commented that he liked the green color scheme over the traditional brown, red, and golds of the day. I have to agree because this cool green is tranquil and soothing. The goal this year was to reinvent the older stuff we had in a newish look, so here we go with a tranquil Thanksgiving table!

The old

The base for the table was a natural tablecloth I had. It gave a soft base to work with and really helped the look to come together well. Of course, white is an option too, but in this case, I felt neutral would soften things.

A while back ago I invested in new everyday dishes from Pier 1. These have turned out to be the best basic item. Casual for every day, yet easy to incorporate in a dressed-up table. The eucalyptus flowers are watercolors and free style which gives them a lovely, yet relaxed look. The shade of cool green also worked perfectly in our home. On this Thanksgiving table they are classic without being rigid. I love items that can be reused in other ways like these dishes.

In addition to the dishes I purchased these slightly metallic woven placemats. These placemats are another awesome item to have on hand. They work so well with many things. What I love is that they add a slightly rustic touch- but just slightly. I like a touch of rustic, but not too much. The subtle champagne color adds the touch of glam. Placemats like these are a good investment- also bought from Pier 1.

The creamy, distressed chargers from Pier 1 are an excellent basic and like the placemats, pair well with many things. They are inexpensive and dress up a table so nicely.

The silverware is a modern style that keeps the look updated and the fringed napkins add another soft rustic touch.

These pumpkin napkin holders are a favorite of mine! The color was perfect, and they screamed out “buy me” when I saw them. However, I did give them each a light mist of champagne spray paint to glam them up as well as match them with the placemats at bit.

The cool green flute wine glasses came out because they just match perfectly. Don’t be afraid to go with color on the drink glasses. It adds variety and interest.

On the chairs are mini eucalyptus wreaths that I made with faux eucalyptus and scotch tape- yes, you read that right. I then tied them on the back of the chairs with wide satin ribbon in a cool, sage green. Easy and lovely!

The new

This list is noticeably short, but that’s the point- haha! Basically, the centerpiece is new and that is it. I bought a shallow wood dish large enough to hold some candle votives. Next, I purchased dried and preserved eucalyptus and cut sprigs to lay around the candles in a relaxed way. And in the votives sit tea lights because they keep the votive clean as opposed to cleaning a bunch of wax later. When I stepped back and looked at the result, I felt happy with it. Everything came together wonderfully and looked newish. And it was easy!

That is it. Maybe this gives you some ideas for repurposing your own items for a beautiful table. Have a great week!
