Autumn Entryway Decor at Hidden Bluff 2022
“Autumn is the season to find contentment at home by paying attention to what we already have.” Unknown.
Autumn Entryway Decor at Hidden Bluff 2022. Sept. 22, 2022. Since arriving at Hidden Bluff a year ago the mental shift in my decor philosophy has continued to relax and grow. Being a person who gets a certain picture in mind of what I want it has been a slow journey to learning to lean into what the house is saying as opposed to forcing a particular vision. The autumn entryway decor at Hidden Bluff 2022 is a testament to that as orange and green were not the colors I set out to use. But the ghost pumpkins I planted never came. Neither did the blue Jarrahdale pumpkins. In fact, it was only the small sugar pie pumpkins that were successful this year. Since the goal was to grow my own decor as much as possible there was a quick departure from the dusty blue and white to……orange.
Inside entryway….
What to do with small orange pumpkins I thought? And then an idea for an entryway display came using a single pumpkin on a shelf. A soup bowl filled with dried eucalyptus was put next to it. And then there was a picture in the Goodwill pile that I pulled back out. Aha! A perfect fall-colored accent piece in the entryway. The golden late morning sun provided a nice glow over it. It was a good start.
Simplicity was another unintended blessing of the season. My dark green rain boots became decor. I was inspired to put some aged-looking faux yellow peonies inside them.
It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. As I went along it came together naturally. The orange pumpkins brought an autumnal warmness that added to the coziness of Hidden Bluff. Green velvet accents added richness.
A basket filled with faux fall leaves stands next to the front door.
I found the clearance section garland from Pottery Barn last year tucked in a closet and hung it over the door. Green velvet ribbon made a nice accent.
Outside entryway…
On the outside is a metal container painted in cream holding faux autumn oak leaves and eucalyptus as well as aged yellow peonies.
I went back to my office and dug out a basket and filled it with the pumpkins. There were enough pumpkins in the garden to fill a basket.
A faux bay leaf garland from Target dotted with acorns hangs above the door.
Pottery Barn clearance to the rescue again with a fall wreath trimmed with more dark green velvet ribbon.
When done the whole effect felt very warm and inviting and not overdone. And while I still love the white and blue pumpkins I have to admit that the departure from that this year worked out. Thank you for visiting Hidden Bluff on this first day of fall!
Have a beautiful day!
