Books on my Nightstand January 2024
It is ironic how people feel so lonely in such a noisy world with so many ways to communicate. The ability to talk to people around the world at any time is a wonderful gift. But the modern conveniences of the world that made it easier to socialize have also helped foster an environment of loneliness for many. It isn’t hard for people to feel isolated when so much more time is spent in our homes, and we lack the physical connection that humanizes us. And some of us we rather like that isolation a little too much. The societal changes of the past few years have helped me to indulge my natural isolationist nature making it easier to my introverted nature. It is easy for me to climb into my creative vortex and not come out for some social interaction. Modern living has both helped and hurt that.
The relational struggle is real when you are introverted. As I want to honor God with my life, I know I need His grace to help me in this area to climb out of the shell. Proverbs 18:1 talks about person who isolate themselves as seeking “his own desire”- gulp. Okay, a lot of grace is needed.
Books on my Nightstand January 2024:
We are made for relationships- God honoring ones. And this is a skill to always be refining at any age. When I saw this book, Girls’ Club by Sally Clarkson, I was prompted to get it. Sally Clarkson has made a ministry out of friendship and discipleship among women as well as bridging the gap between age groups. This spoke to me a lot. God has clearly called her for the times we are in as I know He has called many of us as well. Responding to that is going to take some learning on my part and good resources are valuable. God calls lips of knowledge precious jewels (Proverbs 20:15). So, this month the book focus is on friendship and how to further nurture that in my life.
Have a beautiful day!
