Christmas at Hidden Bluff 2021
The Thanksgiving dishes were barely cleared off the table when I had my husband haul in the freshly flocked tree sitting in our potting shed. Earlier, I vowed to at least have the decency to wait until after dinner to put up a tree. However, the planning for Christmas decor began months ago. I knew right away it would include various shades of creams and golds affair at Hidden Bluff for our first year. So, out came all the brocade ribbon ordered over the summer. Out came the cream roses purchased on clearance. Out came the new fairy lights. Old gold ornaments came out of storage and much more! Generally, my Christmas decor is pretty traditional with poinsettias, plaids, and more Currier & Ives looking. This year Christmas at Hidden Bluff 2021 would be a light palette with floral themes to play up a romantic French country cottage look.
This is also my first post to showing our finished living room at Hidden Bluff. The brocade slipcovers on the couches were something I had sewn close to twenty years ago for my mom. She was ready to do something different and I was more than ready to accept the furniture. It played right into the desired look. They also held up amazingly well! And now on to the Christmas decor!
Christmas at Hidden Bluff 2021
The tree is very simple with creamy roses and gold ornaments. And brocade ribbon is artfully placed on the tree.
The brocante painted coffee table was an amazing online find. And sitting on top of the coffee table is a gorgeous gold tree found in a local store. It was a perfect centerpiece for the coffee table.
This gold tree statue is my new favorite!
The narrow mantle is layered with snowy fir picks and gold candlesticks to compliment the vintage mirror found at a flea market. And below the mirror sits an arrangement of roses and feathers.
My mom also brought over many scraps of the fabric used to make these now vintage slipcovers, so I created raw edged stocking for the fireplace.
Additionally, I made some holiday pillows. A holiday pillow is as simple as ripping a strip of fabric for a bow.
And the top of the tree was a departure from the traditional star with a large ribbon bow adorning it.
The result felt like casual elegance and not too fussy. I love the different golds! So very festive!
My sister-in-law just sat and stared at the tree for an hour when I was done- lol! The living room felt so peaceful.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a merry and beautiful day!
