Cozy Table for Two
We have a large dining table that was given to us by my parents. They had purchased it years ago and it was handmade by the Amish. It was quite expensive. When we moved to Hidden Bluff, my parents were eager to get rid of a lot of furniture, so they gave us this table. We happily received it because we didn’t have a dining table at that point and it seats up to twelve. I like its cottage-style look and minimalist construction; however, it is a big table. Not a cozy table for two. It didn’t take me long to start eyeballing the drum table in the living room for a tiny romantic dining spot by the fireplace- a cozy table for two this Valentine’s Day. I then purchased some baby burgundy roses at the store and went to work.
Cozy Table for Two
For a small dining table it is important to keep everything la petit.
Old Country Roses plates and gold flatware with champagne glasses for a simple place setting. And a pair of antique gold candlesticks for romance. I used some leftover candle stubs to fill them- waste not; want not. The basic velvet napkins are inexpensive and add luxury.
And no crowding things on the table. Simple.
For a little Parisian flair I created la petit French market style bouquets to put on the plates. I keep twine and a roll of kraft paper on hand which was what I used to make these. Simply cut little squares of paper and tie them around the flowers with twine. There isn’t much to it.
A vintage Johnson Brothers sugar bowl became a mini vase for those mini roses. It sits on top of a basic lace runner.
I used the French needlepoint chairs for romantic seating. If they are a little low my husband and I can sit on the pillows!
Have a beautiful day!
