Wheat Fall Decor and Decor Tips at SomeTyme Place
The fires nearby still rage on, but we are now on the downside of this historic catastrophe. We were finally removed off evacuation level 1 status all together and have unpacked our things. The fire fighters are in an offensive position at this point. Oregon finally did what it does best and rained- thank goodness! I do not think any of us will complain about rain this winter. When stressful times occur, normalcy is often the best remedy. Letting anxious thoughts take over is not a good plan. So, I turned my attention back to fall decor because fall is my favorite season and it kept my mind off things. Doing Fall decor at SomeTyme Place is always a lot of fun, and each year I try to mix it up with new ideas such as wheat fall decor.

Mix it up. My decor style is a mix of classic, romantic, and trendiness. The classic pieces are what anchor the look. For example, pumpkins are obviously classic and play a big part in my fall style. The romantic part of the look comes in with flowers and other botanicals. Botanicals fill out the decor and are eye-pleasing with their foliage and rich colors. This year I focused on soft, romantic colors such as mauve, crimson, and rose. And because I want to keep the look fresh and up to date, I am always on the lookout for new ideas. Wheat is currently on trend for fall, so I hunted down a bunch of dried wheat to add to the decor. Additionally, there are some other decor tips for your fall look, so read on!
Have basic core items that are versatile. As a habit I try to purchase decor items that can be used in various seasons throughout the year. Of course, there are always the items that work for one season only, but it is good to have core items in your stash as well. For example, vases, candle holders, and decorative dishes that reflect your general style as good to have. As an example, this wooden dish is a piece that has a lot of flexibility. Filling wood dishes with an assortment of dried botanicals, pinecones, and fruits slices is a good way to stretch your decor all the way through Christmas. It also helps keep the home smelling good.
Speaking of vases, I have an assortment of clear aqua glass vases that tied in nicely with the fall theme. I filled them with wheat, dried hydrangeas, and botanicals and did a grouping on the fireplace. These aqua vases are some of my best purchases and get used year-round. They are so versatile! Notice our cat in the picture below. She seems mesmerized by the wheat- lol!
A good selection of faux stems and florals also helps. For example, faux eucalyptus stems work well in all seasons. Below are some dried botanicals that are fall colors that I put in a floor vase. Seasonal flowers, vase fillers, and other natural items are what fill out the look.
Think about your color theme. My color focus tends to shift each year, but still stays within a particular shade range that does not require a lot of new decor items for each season. A palette is chosen according to our home colors to avoid clashing. This helps creates a seamless look with natural flow. Use a color chart if you need help with this. This year the colors are a little cooler than usual with eucalyptus, crimson, rose, and mauve. These colors look lovely with the wood walls and ceilings in our house, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. These colors are present outside as well with the inclusion of blue pumpkins. The pumpkins are cool greenish colors that goes well with the color scheme.
Little touches add a lot. Little touches such as these small blue pumpkins looks sweet scattered around a floral arrangement and bring the autumn into the look. Scattering leaves about the room is another favorite tip of mine.
Heirloom pumpkins have so much character. If you have not bought heirloom pumpkins yet, then give it a try this year. They are no more expensive than orange pumpkins and offer variety to your look. I love these cool green, warty ones!
Baskets are the best! I use these for so many things throughout the year, so I like to get good quality baskets. My favorite use of them is for flower arrangements on the floor. Try put an assortment of small soft pumpkins in a basket for display. Or fill a tall basket with dried wheat for the perfect harvest look.
Include nature. Natural elements gathered outside are beautiful and free. This year, thanks to the windstorm, there are an abundance of branches appropriate for this doorway decor. I took a bundle of branches and tied them together for a rustic look and added blue heirloom pumpkins and dried wheat.
Add some coziness. Candles, lanterns, and blankets add the cozy factor that makes fall so inviting. It has a nurturing effect which is much needed right now. Hope you enjoyed the fall decor at SomeTyme Place.
Happy first day of Fall!
