How to Dry Citrus Peel
In another few weeks it will be time to start drying herbs which is always a joy to do. If you are interested in drying your own herbs you can find out how easy it is to do here. But before getting to that I am drying a lot of citrus peel right now. Dried lemon and orange peel are wonderful mixed with herbs for tea blends. They add a wonderful flavor to your homemade teas or even add them to to regular black tea. You will be amazed at how easy it is as to how to dry citrus peel.
How to dry citrus peel
This works with lemons, oranges, limes, and likely other citrus fruit as well. It is an excellent way to use up everything. Additionally, you can run the dried citrus peel through a blender or clean grinder to make your own citrus powder. These can be used in cooking for extra flavoring. Around here we use a lot of citrus fruits, so I tried to come up with ways to use all parts of the fruit. This is a fun idea, and you don’t need special equipment for this. Just grab whatever citrus fruits you like, a peeler, a pair of clean scissors, and paper towels.
Start by washing and drying your citrus. Next, take your peeler and peel off the whole outer layer, but try to avoid the white part. When done peeling, take your clean scissors and snip the peels into thin strips. Spread these strips out on a paler towel and let sit a couple days. It doesn’t take long for them to dry, and once they are crunchy and easily snapped then they are done. Store them in a container and use within a year. Isn’t that easy?!
Have a beautiful day!
