Sweet Tart Cranberry Lime Frozen Margaritas
Our recent little weekend getaway to Bandon, Oregon inspired today’s Sweet Tart Cranberry Lime Frozen Margaritas post. As I mentioned in this post here Bandon is known for cranberries, so I picked up a few cranberry items such as cranberry fudge, cranberry chocolate, cranberry jellies, cranberry BBQ sauce, and more. This tangy little berry is very versatile in both sweet and savory foods. Cranberries are naturally very tart and will make your mouth pucker. Combining them with other food produces the best results. When added to other things cranberries add a delicious sweet tart flavor which explains the large variety of cranberry food items I picked up.
Additionally, cranberries have a lot of health benefits, so it seems a shame to relegate them to holiday use only. I cannot tell you how many times we have had leftover frozen berries in the freezer that sit all year. Well, it is time to stop that. In attempt to incorporate more of this super berry in our life I created a refreshing frozen margarita using cranberries that have been sitting in our freezers since last Christmas. The result was delicious.
One of the things I really like about Sweet Tart Cranberry Lime Frozen Margaritas was the texture. The blended berries resulted in tiny bits of berries floating about in the drink, giving it a beautiful red-pink color as well as substance. The combination of cranberry, lime, and orange was also perfectly refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. So, this fall make sure to put some cranberries in your freezer for the next summer and pull them out for this awesome drink!
