Creamy Spicy Hot Buttered Rum

An easy, delicious, and spicy hot buttered rum recipe for those chilly nights! Easy to adapt to suit your own preferences!

Ingredients

Hot Butter Rum Batter (makes approximately 1.5 cups of batter)

  • 8 oz good quality butter, such as European-style, or use regular butter (salted kind) (approximately 1 cup)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

Hot Butter Rum Drink (1 drink)

  • 3-4 tbsps. spiced rum (depending on how rummy you want it)
  • 1-2 heaping tbsps. rum drink batter
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 heaping cup homemade whipped cream
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional
  • extra spices for garnish optional

Instructions

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

  • Whip butter.
  • Add remaining ingredients and whip until well blended.
  • Use immediately or store in the fridge.

Hot Buttered Rum Drink

  • Put rum and drink batter in a heat-proof mug or glass.
  • Add boiling water.
  • Stir the drink until the batter is melted.
  • Top with a heaping 1/4 cup of whipped cream and garnish.
  • Serve and enjoy!
