Begin by combining flour, oats, brown sugar, and baking soda in a bowl.
Cut in butter until the mixture is coarse crumbs.
Set aside 1/2 cup of this mixture and press the remaining mixture in an ungreased 9 x 9 pan. I doubled this recipe, so I am using a 13 x 9-inch pan as shown.
Spread preserves on top of the crumb mixture in the pan
Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of mixture you set aside on top of the preserves and press slightly.
Bake in a 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes or till the top is golden.
Cool bars.
When cooled completely cut into bars. Yields approximately 2 doz.
