A Fall Cleaning List. September 6, 2025.

There is something about the words “Fall cleaning” that inspire me to put on some old clothes and get busy scrubbing every nook and cranny of our home for winter. Of course, it all sounds so much more romanticized with the term “Fall cleaning” as opposed to regular house cleaning. That being said, Fall cleaning is a legitimate branch of the homekeeping arts in the lands that have the four seasons. It is a time of preparedness before winter, so that our homes will be fresh and clean for the long cold months we spend in them. And we do spend a good bit of time in them through winter. Therefore, when the leaves begin to flutter from the trees it is time to turn our eyes to the home and prepare.

 Fall Cleaning List

Make a simple disinfectant cleaning spray with 2 tsps. of bleach, 16 oz. of water and a couple drops of dish soap. Put in a spray bottle and use to clean surfaces.

Drawers that were a jumbled mess of shirts, socks and pajamas are organized as things are neatly folded and put back into their proper place. That mustard from 2019 spotted in the corner of the refrigerator has been tossed in the trash can without a second glance. With the swoop of a feather duster those cobwebs lurking in the corners disappear. Windows are washed and now sparkle in the Autumn sun. There is a magical essence to the whole process and a great sense of reward when your work is completed. A home has been properly cleaned is a home ready to be enjoyed. Incidentally, here is a recipe for homemade window wash to get those sparkling windows!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
