Cozy Cottage Movies to Watch
July 12, 2022. Part of my sleep hygiene routine at Hidden Bluff is to get into bed early and watch some tv and then read. It is while watching tv that I pull out my Victorias, Chic Country, French Country, etc. magazines and thumb them through for romantic living inspiration. It helps me to feel I am accomplishing something while vegging out with a movie. Of course, my movie content varies. And just like autumn with its cobwebs and shorter days puts me in the mood for mysteries, so does the summer flowers and sundresses put me in the mood for beautiful movies with gorgeous natural scenery, pretty dresses, and flowers of course. And these days watching the flowers unfold week after week has most assuredly inspired my current movie viewing at night. With that in mind, I have put together a list of my recommended cozy cottage movies to watch.
Cozy Cottage Movies to Watch
This Beautiful Fantastic. This delightful movie was one I stumbled onto recently and is just so sweet! I actually texted my mom in the middle of it because it was so sweet. She immediately started watching it and loves it too! This movie will give you all the feels and good vibes with its quirky and lovable characters and simple story line. A young English woman who was orphaned while a child is threatened with losing her house rental for not taking care of the garden. She has a 1-month reprieve to get her act together and learn to garden. She receives help from an unlikely source: her grumpy next-door neighbor with whom she is at war with.
Stardust. This beautiful fantasy fiction is another lovely watch with its story about a star who has fallen to earth and has become the prisoner of a young man who needs her to win the hand of the woman he loves. This movie is full of beautiful scenes and fun characters and a great storyline as well as acting. I have watched this repeatedly.
Cranford. A charming regency story about life in Cranford village with its ups and downs. A very heart warming and feel-good movie with the classic English village setting for your cottagecore vibes. You just can’t not love Judy Dench….
Pride and Prejudice. Every time I watch this movie (Keira Knightly version) I just swoon over it. The gorgeous setting on the English moors, the acting, the story…. Just play this movie on auto repeat for me please. Really.
Much Ado about Nothing. If you are Shakespeare literate and like his plays, then you will love this joyous and downright gorgeous version of Much Ado about Nothing (Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh). A happy story of love thwarted and set right and unexpected romance between two sworn enemies. This is old fashioned and fun.
Midsummer Night’s Dream. Another pretty version of a Shakespeare play, this fantasy fiction has fairies and humans and their tangled love affairs to sort out. A perfect cozy cottage watch!
Have a beautiful day!
