Cozy Cottage Movies to Watch. July 12, 2022. Part of my bedtime routine at Hidden Bluff is to get into bed early and watch some TV. While watching TV, I thumb through my favorite magazines, such as Victoria, Chic Country, and French Country. They inspire me creatively, and it helps me to feel I am accomplishing something while vegging out with a movie. But of course, my movie content varies. And just as autumn, with its cobwebs and shorter days, puts me in the mood for mysteries, so do summer flowers and sundresses put me in the mood for beautiful movies with gorgeous natural scenery, pretty dresses, and flowers, of course. And these days, watching the flowers unfold week after week has most assuredly inspired my nightly movie viewing. With that in mind, I have put together a list of my recommended cozy cottage movies.

Cozy Cottage Movies to Watch

This Beautiful Fantastic. This delightful movie was one I stumbled upon recently, and it is just so sweet! I actually texted my mom in the middle of it because it was so sweet. She immediately started watching it and loves it too! This movie will give you all the feels and good vibes with its quirky and lovable characters and simple storyline. A young English woman who was orphaned while a child is threatened with losing her house rental for not taking care of the garden. She has a 1-month reprieve to get her act together and learn to garden. However, she receives help from an unlikely source: her curmudgeonly next-door neighbor, with whom she is at war for stealing his cook.

Stardust. This beautiful fantasy fiction is another lovely watch, with its story of a star who has fallen to earth and becomes the prisoner of a young man who needs her to win the hand of the woman he loves. This fairytale movie is full of beautiful scenes, fun characters, a great storyline, and strong acting. I watch this often.

Cranford. A charming Regency era story about life in Cranford, a village of mostly women, with its daily ups and downs. They support each other through the good and bad. A very heartwarming movie with a classic English village setting for your cottagecore vibes. The book is excellent as well!

Pride and Prejudice. Every time I watch this movie (Keira Knightly version) I just swoon over it. The gorgeous setting on the English moors, the acting, the story…. Just play this movie on auto repeat for me, please. Really.

Much Ado about Nothing. If you are Shakespeare-literate and like his plays, you will love this joyous and downright gorgeous version of Much Ado About Nothing (Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh). A happy story of love thwarted and set right, and an unexpected romance between two sworn enemies. This is old-fashioned and fun.

Midsummer Night’s Dream. Another pretty version of a Shakespeare play, this fantasy fiction features fairies and humans, with their tangled love affairs to sort out. A perfect cozy cottage watch!
