Happy July 4th!

Happy July 4th from SomeTyme Place in Brightwood, Oregon! I hope you all had an amazing day and lots of fun with friends and family. We ended up with 45 people at our home for our annual 4th BBQ. This BBQ is one of our favorite holiday traditions because we love the time spent with friends and family. Personally, I love creating traditions because traditions build ties between people and foster a sense of belonging. Traditions also create a history within a group of people that unites them in a long-lasting way. We have a very wide group of friends and love the uniqueness that each person brings.

The surf and turf menu was a hit, and we received lots of compliments on everything from the grilled steak (deemed “best steak ever” by our nephew), the New England-style clam chowder, the bacon cheddar scones, the dessert buffet- everything. The meal was served buffet style in the backyard overlooking the river, and the big blessing was the sunny weather! The weather has been awful lately with several thunderstorms and even a rare tornado nearby! Finally, this morning the sun broke through, and we were so thankful.

However, we are most thankful for the many blessings we have living in this country and the opportunities it provides. Every day is a new adventure, and we get to choose what that adventure will be and how we face it. Because of this we say a huge thank you to those who fought for our independence and the blessings we enjoy today! Enjoy your day and the blessings you have and make some new traditions!

Happy Independence Day!
