July Book Picks 2021

July book picks 2021

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind! Things have progressed rapidly with our new home- much faster than we anticipated. Consequently, the boxes have been coming out and packing has commenced. Did I mention I hate packing for moves? Actually, I hate house moves period. Not the house itself. That is lovely and just perfect for what we need right now. It is all the getting ready that stinks. We needed to do this though. All of it means I am good and distracted right now, so I definitely need some light reading for July book picks 2021.

July and August are perfect for those lighter, beach books that entertain us with romance, mystery, and crossroad moments. It is my policy to keep it light in the summer and avoid hefty books. This is due to the fact that my concentration levels are not at their best in summer heat. Snowy, winter days are much better for lengthy, wordy novels. With all the additional activity I wanted books I could easily pick up and down. After looking around, I settled on the following four books for July book picks 2021. They were well reviewed and looked beach-worthy, or in my case, river worthy.

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand. You can always count on Elin Hilderbrand for a good beach read with her Nantucket backdrops. This one has a murder mystery in it to boot. The maid of honor is killed the night before Benji and Celeste’s lavish wedding. When the sheriff begins questioning the family and guests things get interesting.

Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. A young Italian innkeeper, Pasquale, falls in loves at first sight with a dying actress in 1962. Fifty years later Pasquale goes to Hollywood to search for the woman he has loved since that fateful day and what became of her. The story line sold me in 2 seconds.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Extremely interesting plot here. Nora Seed has committed suicide after a particularly troubling period in her life. She wakes up to a library at the edge of the universe which contains infinite books filled with different realities based on different choices. Nora Seed must decide which direction her life will go.

Florence Adler Swims Forever by Rachel Beanland. Two sisters, Fannie and Florence return home. Fannie is in a high-risk pregnancy and Florence is training to swim the English Channel. Florence dies in a swimming accident and the family chooses to hide it from Fannie. Of course, a secret such as this will have long term consequences for the family.

Have a lovely time reading! Share your thoughts below in comments.
