A White Rose and Pumpkin Tablescape
Vibrant October has left us, and a windy November takes her seat. November is Fall’s middle child that sits somewhere between brilliantly colored October and the early onset of December’s frost. The trees are mostly bare and dark days are beginning. We just buried my dear father-in-law the last day of October, so November begins emptier without his steadfast spirit and good natured personality. But because this is the month we celebrate gratitude I will celebrate that I got to know him for nearly 30 years and how kind he always was. And today, the world is a little bit different as I step into my workspace to create. But creating for me is therapy. It has been a while since a tablescape appeared on the blog and this idea came to mind last week for Thanksgiving: a white rose and pumpkin tablescape.
Pumpkins are not a very romantic item in decor. However, other decorators are combining pumpkins and flowers more and more. Additionally, I had purchased some white roses for our Christmas tree this year and thought I would pair them with baby white pumpkins for our Thanksgiving table. The result was lovely. If you look closely you can see faux foliage with sage and purple hues such as oak leaves, baby eucalyptus, white roses and real baby white pumpkins for the centerpiece. It is a sweet and cozy table which is perfect for cottage living!
A White Rose and Pumpkin Tablescape
First, a taupe and white buffalo checked tablecloth became the base.
Next, the rustic napkins I sewed from soft muslin fabric I had on hand. These I made by cutting out 22 inch squares and simply serging them around the edges. I tied them with silky ribbon for a finishing touch. All is very informal and simple.
Oak and eucalyptus stems are casually arranged in the center of the table. After which white roses and pumpkins are scattered throughout. In the center are vintage metal candle holders that come from Amazon. Lastly, the beeswax candles are handmade which you can learn to do here.
The china is vintage Johnson Brothers which are a great neutral holiday dish set. The glasses are also vintage. The placemats are woven ones from Pier 1.
Lastly, here are the candles lit for a moody tablescape fitting for November’s dark days.
Have a beautiful day!
