Rose Vanilla Tea Latte Instant Mix

Sometimes you want to sit in a favorite chair with a good book and a cup of tea. Perhaps you turn on some chamber music in the background and admire the fresh cut flowers in a favorite vase nearby while you sip on a floral blend of hot tea with a book of French home decor ideas. Creating a mood of elegance in a Jane Austen sort of way can make everyday life special. Tea lattes can also be a lovely concoction for your moment of home elegance. And while once upon a time I might have scorned an instant tea mix, I am older and wiser now. So, today, I bring you a new creation: Rose Vanilla Tea Latte Instant Mix for everyday elegance.

A few weeks ago I shared a new recipe I developed for an instant London Fog latte mix. Mixes make life easy, so if you are one of those who like roses a lot even in food then you will like today’s recipe. This one is based off the London Fog mix mentioned above only it is with rose. While some people like the idea of rose in their drink more than they actually like the taste of it there are those who genuinely enjoy the taste of rose. Today’s Rose Vanilla Tea Latte Instant Mix pairs rose with vanilla for a lovely sweet floral taste which may convert non-rose lovers. This lovely drink is extra creamy with a perfect rose vanilla blend that is very drinkable and exquisite!

This mix uses a floral baking extract for the rose flavor. One thing to mention with floral baking extracts is that they vary in intensity. This mix has been tried with a couple of rose baking extracts. Star Kay White Rose extract was the best although it is currently unavailable on Amazon. And while I like their other extracts such as lavender and bergamot, Bakto rose extract didn’t really perform well here. Please don’t use rose absolutes or rose essential oils to make this. Only use food grade quality rose extract.

Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups of mix.

1 scant cup powdered milk

1/2 scant cup powdered creamer

6 tsps. of sugar

2 tsps. of instant tea (I used this one here)

1 tsp. rose baking extract

1/4 tsp. vanilla powder

Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix well. Store in an airtight container in cool, dark area. To make: add desired amount to hot water. I find one heaping tbsp. per teacup full of water adequate.
